Are They Suitable for Me?

These medications are typically safe for most patients to use as a weight-loss drug, but as with all medications, it may not be suitable for everyone to take. The use of these medications is indicated for those patients who have a BMI of 30 or higher, or a BMI of 27 or higher with other medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or higher cholesterol.

Semaglutide and tirzepatide can affect the body’s digestion process; therefore, several gastrointestinal side effects may occur while using the medication. For certain patients, these medication can even increase the risk for more serious medical issues, especially if there are already pre-existing conditions such as:

• • Chronic kidney issues
  • Pancreatitis
  • History of thyroid tumors or medullary thyroid cancer
  • Endocrine neoplasia syndrome

How Much Weight Can You Lose Using Injectable Medication?

Since every patient is different, your weight loss results will depend on your medical history, dosage, support, and your modifications to diet and exercise. However, in clinical trials patients lost 15-20 percent body weight with semaglutide and 25 percent with tirzepatide.

Are There Varying Doses?

Dosing will vary from person to person. All will begin the medication on the recommended starter dose. Based on their response, we can increase dosing if need be.
